Requirements for Champions over 3 years

1. Training for Staff Training for staff/ volunteers in Autism Awareness.

The required number of staff/ volunteers is based on your size:

- Small organisation (1-15 employees/volunteers) 1 manager and 1 employee trained

- Medium organisation (16-50 employees/volunteers) All managers and 1 employee per shift or area of work

- Large organisation (50+ employees/volunteers) All managers and 1 employee per shift or site or area of work, plus training made available to all interested employees/volunteers on an ongoing basis

 

2. Visual Supports At least one visual support must to be put in place.

Visual supports expand a person’s ability to prepare for and interact with their surroundings; one is required, but more are welcomed!

This must include a visual guide. A visual guide template will be provided, along with support in creating the guide. The visual guide will then be made available on our Autism Friendly Blarney website, with your consent.

(A visual guide is a document that uses images, symbols and sentences to provide information, guidance, and instructions for specific venues/activities.)

 

3. Sensory accommodations.

At least one sensory accommodation to be in place.

These will depend on your type of business/organisation. Examples include sensory-friendly hours, sensory-friendly lighting, quiet areas, sensory packs. Help and guidance will be provided to choose the best options for you.
